The street gives nothing away. A short crescent of established homes and mature hedging, no sightlines in. Most people in West Vancouver have never driven it. From the road the house is quiet, almost withholding.
Then the land opens. Half an acre of lawn and terraced garden falls away behind the house, wide and bright and entirely private. Light moves across it all day. Morning comes in soft and green off the garden, midday fills the great room straight through the glass, and by late afternoon the sun settles on the pool terrace and stays there until it slips behind the firs. There is no dark side to this lot.
At the base of the property, Wagg Creek runs year-round. Gentle water, shallow and clear, the kind children spend a whole summer in. Salmon return to it in the fall. Stone platforms sit at the water's edge, and the sound of it carries up the lawn.

The palette is clean and natural throughout: white oak, cedar, pale stone, blackened steel. Nothing shouts, and nothing changes from the entry to the lowest floor. A floating oak stair rises through the centre of the house behind a screen of fine black rods, and an elevator reaches every level.
The kitchen is Scavolini in rift white oak, full height, with Gaggenau appliances and a Caliber range in black and brass. Book-matched stone runs the island, the waterfall ends and the full backsplash. Behind it, a separate butlers kitchen and pantry, so the main room stays calm when the house is full. The dining room opens straight onto the covered terrace and its outdoor kitchen. Twenty people is an easy night here.
Two primary suites, one upstairs and a second on the main floor, plus four further bedrooms, eight bathrooms and a nanny suite with its own kitchenette. The principal bath is a room of its own: walk-in shower with stone bench and brass fittings, black-framed glass doors opening to a freestanding tub. The children's rooms take corner glazing that looks straight into ferns and mature planting.
Below, the grounds live like a resort no one else can see. Broad stone terrace, heated pool with automated cover, hot tub, fire pit, covered lanai, outdoor chef's kitchen. Level lawn beyond for whatever the kids are playing that year. Hydrangea banks, stone retaining walls and glacial boulders left where they sat, framed by cedar hedging and old firs. All of it designed and maintained to the same standard as the interior.
The lower floor is given entirely to movement, and there is nothing like it on the North Shore. A regulation squash and sports court under a ceiling near twenty feet. A double-height gym. A pilates studio at loft level with its own grade-level entrance. Cedar sauna, steam room and spa vanity. Then a home theatre, rec room, wet bar and wine display. Ten-zone Sonos, full security, three-car garage with dog wash.
For all its seclusion, the location is one of West Vancouver's best-kept secrets. Cedardale Elementary is a walk from the door. Park Royal is a few minutes away, the highway is easily accessable, and the Lions Gate Bridge puts downtown within reach without ever feeling close to it. Complete quiet, and nothing far.
A compound for a family that lives outside as much as in, that has kids with energy to spend, and that likes a full house. Truly a one of one.
